End of an Era and Moving details!!

Well the day has finally come - BBHQ have closed the doors for the very last time!

We'll be sad to see it go but have so many lovely memories of our time with you all over the last few years. We'll soon be starting our new adventures as mums so we'll carry on blogging when we can (we still think we'll have plenty of time to sew lalalalala)....

All orders placed today (25th of March) have been posted and we'll continue to monitor the
email account until the end of the month.

Closing Down Sale

Well the time has come for us to close the doors of BBHQ. We'll be very sad to say goodbye to you all and we haven't taken this decision lightly, in fact we have a wonderful reason, both of us will shortly become Mum's - how about that for timing?! After a lot of thought we decided that now is a good time for a break from the shop, so we can focus on our families and hopefully come back in some guise or another in the future!
We will be closing the shop from the 25th of March 2011 but we will keep blogging so would love you all to stay in touch and once we're back on our feet we'll be sure to share more patterns and tutorials of our own designs!

So with Nursery's to make room for everything in BBHQ must go so we're having our biggest ever sale, everything on the website has at least 30% off so make sure you stock up girlies - it's our parting gift to you!

Don't forget we'll be closing our doors for the last time on 25/03/2011 so make sure you don't miss out!

Is it safe to come out yet?

Well we know that Hallow's Eve was a week ago now but the trick or treaters of Suffolk were so scary we only just dared to peek out from behind the sofa!

We thought we would share our best pumpkin carving efforts now that it is safe.....

 

Although we have been toying with keeping this one up all year to scare away the spiders!

Not long to wait now...

Although we are rubbish at updating our blog, we are excellent at reading them and we are particularly keen on the glorious updates we see regularly from Leanne Beasley

We were delighted to see Leanne’s latest entry which gives us more information on the much-anticipated “Vignette” – her new and exciting quarterly publication.  If you’ve not heard about this yet, go look, it’s not one to miss!

 

We have already received lots of queries about this and have been badgering our supplier for details.  Well of course we weren’t going to pass up the opportunity to send these out – one or two might not make it into the post of course...

We have been told that Vignette is very close to release now and so we’re inviting you to register your interest in a subscription; this doesn’t commit you to anything just yet, just gives us an idea of how many to order!

Pop on over to our website to let us know you too are pacing the floor waiting for this and we’ll keep you up to date with expected delivery dates and of course the all important cost info. 

With 4 beautiful issues per year, we are sure that it will do exactly what Leanne has planned: inspire and uplift!  We can’t wait!

Before we embrace darker evenings...

..and get out our winter coats we thought we would take a look back some of our photos over the year and we found our pictures of a lovely bouquet we had in BBHQ back in the spring! We love flowers whatever time of the  year, especially as it brings a little bit of the outside in. We're sure that you'll all agree getting delightful gifts such as this lovely "vintage" styled bouquet from Myrtle & Mint is just perfect....

 
  
Looking back at these pictures has inspired us to start thinking about what wintery type displays we can create...

It's almost here....

Yes we can taste it - SUMMER! Although it doesn't necessarily feel quite like the heatwave we're all waiting for quite yet we're getting into the summer spirit here at BBHQ, which mainly means Cornettos on tap, we've had five but who's counting...?

We've even been to the Seaside to blow off the cobwebs and get inspired...

... and enjoyed a spot of gardening....

Down in the Garden - a whole heap of Gorgeous!

Ok so it's been a while since we found out about Leanne's new Block of the Month project but that doesn't mean the novelty has worn off.  No siree bob.  Now that the patterns have arrived, we've been able to fully immerse ourselves in the gorgeousness of it.  If you haven't seen it yet, we urge you to have a browse of Leanne's blog because it really is very beautiful indeed!

Look at this little lot for example.  Delicious isn't it?  That is a mixture of Rosie Quinlan's beautiful "Grandmother's Flower Garden" fabric as well as some rather lovely Lecien basics and a generous helping of everything else beautiful that we could find! 

 

As if that wasn't fab enough, we've had a lot of fun cuddling these....they are the wonderful Cottage Garden threads, hand dyed in Australia by the lovely Pam Spurway. 

They don't look half bad with their dmc counterparts do they??!?  And to think, we've got to send them all away to new homes.  Sniffle.

For now though, these colours have put a spring in our step, a song in our hearts and a rotary cutter in our hands!

Our current obsessions.

Here at BB we can be "faddy", even "fickle" you might say so we thought we'd snapshot our current obsessions before they fade like yesterdays hair colour.  Ok we see "fickle" and we raise you "eclectic".  You see, one of us is obsessed with little paper hexagons and the other is obsessed with Robert Pattinson.  See? That's eclectic right there.  We thought since we cannot agree on which of these wrothy topics deserves more attention we should scientifically compare the two (like they would on CSI which is a whole other obsession).  Here goes then:

LONGEVITY

Paper hexagons, used for traditional patchwork have been around forever (rough estimate)...this little beauty is a photo of a wonderful 1930s version but that's a mere youngster in hexagon terms..

RPattz (sorry but thats what she calls him) by contrast has been around only since 1986  That's one point to hexagons.

DROOLABILITY

Now, we agree those hexagons look mighty fine when adorned with a 30's print don't you think?  Ok fair enough RPatz probably wins this one.

ACCESSIBILITY

Hexagons - you can get your hands on anytime, (make them from scrap paper, print some from the lovely site here and cut them out etc etc). 

RPatz on the other hand would rock a fairly hefty restraining order if you tried to pop a bit of scrap fabric round him we imagine and is really hard to find, we didn't see hide nor hair of him on a recent trip to London and surely celebs are ten a penny there.  One more to hexagons.

ACTING ABILITY

ENTERTAINMENT VALUE WHEN ON THE SOFA

Draw? Surely a draw.  On of us has spent many a happy hour making neat little hexagons...

 
 

and the other has spent many a happy hour with frame by frame advance on Twilight.  (Both of these things could probably fall under the heading of "Get a Life" but nonetheless we're going to award a point to each)

Right so after analysing the results using a spreadsheet (another obsession, sorry) we've come to realise that we're evenly matched.  If you'd like to add your vote to this to settle the big RPattz versus English Patchwork debate (look out for it on Prime Minister's Questions) then please do, we would love to hear that we're not odd.

The Show Must Go On...

Blimey how dramatic!  That title makes us whant to give ourselves a slap so sorry about that.  Anyway, there is a point to this!  Usually, about this time, we're staying up til all hours, waking up in the night to add stuff to lists, panicking because we're forgotton how to work the till and discussing the ideal packed lunch for our jaunt. Yup, usually we're loading up the BB Wagon (there is one, it's beautiful and wooden and painted and pulled by our lovely Suffolk Punch called "In Your Dreams", honest...) and heading off to Chilford to play shops for the weekend with you all. 

Yes, usually we would be getting this lot together...

 

 

 

...chucking it all in the air and hoping it comes out looking a bit like this...

However, this time, due to "logistical challenges" (i.e. we can't make it) we are left feeling a bit disappointed and with no prospect of pretending we live this life all the time.  So, to cheer ourselves up and to try to help our customers who have told us they'll miss us feel a bit better, we've decided to do a one off "event" this weekend.  

Ok it's a bit tacky maybe but who cares, we've decided to run a 2 day spectacular and take 10% off everything on our site.  And we do mean everything.  The only exceptions will be those items that already have more than that off them!

So when does this bargain-fest kick off we hear you cry?  Well to be perfectly honest it depends how quickly we can get in from work, get food down our faces and get the site updated on Friday night!  It will be Friday night though for sure.

Anyway, grab a bargain if you want to and we're just sorry we won't be getting to see you all in person - roll on the NEC....(more on that later!)
